The reader is immediately drawn into this collection of short stories - each different but with a common thread of failed love in many forms. Within few words, the author clearly conveys desperation, lost innocence and even a sense of resilience among the characters. An engaging read for sure!

A cycle of short stories told with passion and authenticity. Recurrent themes are the failure of parental love, disrupted childhood - perhaps the failure of love, period. A boy raised by his mum who does drugs and dates other men despite being in a relationship. A boy acutely aware of the disconnect between his emotional life and the reality that surrounds him. A husband failing his family, and himself. An absorbing, intense and rewarding read.

I have two small children and my husband was out of town, so I didn't have a lot of time to devote to reading. These stories were perfect. They pull the reader in with intense stories and relatable characters.
